Arsenal cruise to victory over Sevilla

Arsenal take themselves within one win of Champions League knock out stages for the first time since Arsene Wenger was manager, with a convincing 2-0 win against Sevilla.

Bukayo Saka was the star of the show, getting the assist for Leandro Trossard’s opening goal in the 29th minute, and then scoring the final goal in the 64th minute.

Sevilla never threatened David Raya’s goal, as the Spaniard kept a comfortable clean sheet, with the Spanish side only managing one shot the entire game.

Arsenal cruised to victory, dominating the game with 62% possession leading to 11 shots.

Diego Alonso’s tactical reshape at half time stopped Arsenal from having an even easier night, as Juanlu Sanchez nor Mike Salas could cope with Saka or Gabriel Martinelli as the two, especially Martinelli, rant riot down the wing.

Alonso changed the shape of this team, allowing far less space out-wide. This slowed down Saka and Martinelli but the pair still caused Sevilla major problems.

The referee came under some criticism during the game, being slow to book Sevilla players for overly aggressive tackles on Saka, who eventually left the pitch due to injury concerns.

This adds to Mikel Arteta’s refereeing concerns which he believes inflicted his sides first league defeat of the campaign at the weekend to Newcastle.
