Bayern Munich followed up their Franz Beckenbauer Supercup victory by winning the opening game of the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig 6-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Luis Diaz announced himself to German fans by smashing home Bayern’s second of the evening, after some creative link up between Kane and Gnabry which put the Columbian striker through on goal, dispatching the ball into the top right hand corner in the 32’.

Harry Kane was unfortunate to not score the first Bundesliga goal this season after a great cross from Kimmich dropped for Kane, who volleyed it just over the cross bar. Michael Olise didn’t waste his chance moments later as he lashed home, with his weak foot, Stanišić’s five yard pass in the 27’.

Gnabry struck the bar after the shot took a deflection to divert his effort, Bayern were up and running at full capacity. Instead of scoring, Gnabry stayed in his provider role, piercing through the middle and feeding in Olise who finished cooly for Bayerns third, three minutes before half time.

Kane refused to be left out of the scoring, in the 64’ poking home after receiving the ball from Diaz, cutting back to send Luke flying before scoring. The goal wouldn’t have been possible without the referee allowing play on after Gnabry was brought down whilst charging through the midfield and the lose ball picked up by Diaz.

Harry Kane’s deeper lying role, reminiscent of his final years at Tottenham, allowed him to play a more creative role, with the Englishman finding his wingers with chipped balls in behind the defence.

Nusa thought he had blunted the blow after smashed a close range effort over the head of Neuer to make it 4-1, but after some deliberation, the free kick leading to the goal was deemed illegal, as the ball was rolling. The goal was struck off.

As if Leipzig’s misery couldn’t get worse, Harry Kane found the net again, floating down the left, receiving the ball just inside the box, cutting inside, and smashing it home for 5-0 in the 74’. With absolutely no remorse for the crying away fans, Kane made the game 6-0, completing his hat-trick.

Bayern did start to concede chances in the second half, but very few with any real threat of beating Neuer as every chance was smothered by defenders.

The referee had very liberal interpretation of the rules, which although distributed fairly across the two teams hurt RB Leipzig more, who went to ground without a whistle more often.
