Partyland Crystal Palace slightly dwindled after their 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first London derby of the season at Stamford Bridge.

The game will be surrounded in controversy, as Eze’s free kick was ruled out for a recent change to the free kick rules.

Will Hughes was fouled on the edge of the box by Cucurella, resulting in a free kick for Palace. Eze lashed the ball into the net but VAR decided to rule the goal out, as Guehi was deemed to be offside and interfering with the wall. All future free kicks featured a drawn line marking one metre from the wall for opposing players to stand behind.

Mateta kept the proceeded to keep the pressure on Chelsea after being slipped in by Wharton, the French striker on balance should have scored.

Enzo went down early in the box having been pushed in the back at a corner, but both the referee and VAR determined there was not enough in it to award a penalty.

Santos had the chance to win the game in the dying moments after Delap cut the ball back to him in the middle of the box, but the substitue skied it. He later tried to repay the Englishman, knocking a cross down for Delap, but was enable to find the debutant.

Chelsea’s best chance of the first half was skied by Chalobah after GIttens cut inside and shot, with the block being rebounded around before eventually finding its way to the centre back. The referee missed Guehi’s touch on the ball as it went out, but from six yards out that should have gone in.

Estevao came on with much anticipation in the second half and instantly started driving and full backs, putting in a cross for Neto which was just too high for the winger. The Brazilian teenager offered some more dynamism to the attack which remained stale for much of the 90 minutes.

Eze’s celebrations, prior to his goal being ruled out, seemed to suggest this could be his last game for the south London club, amid speculation of his transfer to north London, he left the field in the 83’ to a standing ovation from the away support.
