Manchester City began their redemption campaign with a convincing victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, winning 4-0.

It didn’t take Haaland long to open his account, converting Rico Lewis’ pass across the six yard box with a back post tap in, opening his account for the season 34’ minutes in.

It didn’t take long for City to double their lead. City gained back the ball back after a sloppy pass from Agbadou led to a breakaway attack with Oscar Bobb playing in Reijnders who finished cooly three minutes later.

Erling Haaland later put his stamp on the golden boot race, scoring his second in the 61’ after a lovely combination between Lewis and Rejinders who cut the ball back for the assist.

Gomez squandered Wolves best chance of the first half in the 23’ when a pulled back cross found the midfielder all alone on the edge of the box, but a poor first touch allowed Trafford to sweep up the chance with ease.

Moments later, Molineux erupted when Munetsi scored, but whilst he wheeled off in celebration, the linesman raised his flag ruling the goal out. City were again bailed out by an offside decision when Munetsi had a point blank chance five minutes later.

Haaland missed his first golden opportunity of the season in the 19’ when he put Silva’s cross over the crossbar, missing a gaping net as goalkeeper Jose Sa had been taken out of the occasion by the Portuguese midfielders cross.

Wolves hit the ground running to start the second half, with Larson placing the ball just wide of Traffords goal within 50 seconds of the restart, a wakeup call for the coasting giants.

Larson worked a clever set piece routine, slipping the nearside of the defence and being fed in by the taker Munetsi, but was unable to find the net, with Trafford forcing his effort over the bar for a corner, but Cities success was slightly marred but added time injury to Gonzalez who landed on his arm awkwardly after a tackle.

Cherki added to Wolves misery in the 81’ minute by making it 4-0.

Ederson missed the game today due to ‘illness’ according to City, becoming the second keeper of the day to miss opening weekend action amid transfer speculation.
